The New York Jets started off the week on Monday by announcing four roster moves. The Jets added a tight end and linebacker to their 90-man roster.
They also released a linebacker and cornerback to make the moves after evaluating their play in the Jets’ first preseason game on Saturday against the Washington Commanders.
The New York Jets released Jimmy Ciarlo and Myles Jones
Per a statement by the Jets, the team released linebacker Jimmy Ciarlo and cornerback Myles Jones. Ciarlo signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent in May. The Army standout suffered an injury during a special teams play on Saturday. Jones signed as an undrafted free agent in May.
Neal Johnson signed with the Jets
Per the statement, the Jets signed tight end Neal Johnson:
“Johnson (6-4, 250), who went undrafted in 2024, signed with the Rams in May and was waived in early August. Prior to the pros, Johnson spent five seasons at Louisiana, playing in 59 games and was an All-Sun Belt Conference honorable mention in 2022. In his final season with the Cajuns, Johnson caught 30 passes for 383 yards and 5 touchdowns – including 3 scores over the final 3 weeks.”
Anthony Hines signed with the Jets
The Jets also signed Anthony Hines:
“Signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cowboys in 2021 but failed to make the roster after training camp. He signed a reserves/future contract with the Rams in 2022 and spent the past two seasons on and off their practice squad.”
Johnson and Hines will have a quick turnaround this week to impress the Jets’ coaching staff. The Jets play their second preseason game against the Carolina Panthers on Saturday.
