The NCAA is learning of some troubling news this week.  A major university is seeing their Athletic Director accused of some pretty devastating charges.  The police report has detailed what exactly happened.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement reports that Florida A&M athletic director Angela Suggs has been arrested on charges of fraud and theft:

Suggs has been accused of using a corporate credit card for personal expenses amounting to over $24,000 while she worked as the chief executive of the Florida Sports Foundation.

She has since been released on a $13,500 bond after turning herself in to the Leon County jail.

“Florida A&M athletic director Angela Suggs was arrested on Monday on fraud charges for allegedly using her corporate credit card at her previous job for personal expenses,” Front Office Sports reported on Tuesday.

    The report added:

“Suggs, 55, turned herself into authorities at Leon County Jail, near the school’s Tallahassee campus,  and was released on a $13,500 bond.”

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the 55-year-old made wire transfers, cash withdrawals, and various personal purchases at casinos during business trips.

An investigation into Angela Suggs began in November 2024, two months after she was hired as the FAMU AD, with the aforementioned department receiving a criminal referral from the Inspector General of the Florida Department of Commerce.

The probe stemmed from an audit into Suggs’ business credit card transactions and travel reimbursements. The audit revealed that she doctored travel vouchers by mislabeling personal expenses as business meals.

“While the matter is unrelated to her duties as an employee at FAMU, we are monitoring the situation and will respond in the future as appropriate,” Timothy Bears, the Florida A&M interim president, told The Associated Press.

Suggs is facing felony charges of grand theft and scheme to defraud, as well as four misdemeanor counts of submitting false claims on travel vouchers.
