With Madden 23 coming out on August 19th, fans are getting excited about the player ratings. And one of the things that fans get excited about is the 99 Club. The players that are a part of this club are rated 99 overall, which is the highest rating in the game. So far, only three players have been named to the 99 Club, Trent Williams, Davante Adams, and Myles Garrett.
Not only is Garrett in the 99 Club, but he is also the very first Browns player ever to be a part of it.

And believe it or not, Myles Garrett being named to the 99 Club is pretty controversial. At least on Twitter it is.

Even though some may disagree with Garrett being a 99 overall, he definitely deserves it.
Just last year, Garrett was in the conversation for Defensive Player of the Year, but his season was kind of overshadowed by the Browns’ poor season. But, he was included in those conversations for a good reason.
Last year, Garrett had 51 tackles, 16 sacks, one forced fumble, and 17 tackles for losses. And what’s even crazier is that Garrett is almost the all-time sack leader for the Browns. Garrett has 58.5 sacks in his career, just 3 and a half behind the all-time leader Clay Matthews. He’s also done all of this in just 68 games.
Why Are Some People Upset by This?
The only reason people are upset is because T.J. Watt was rated as a 96. Watt was the Defensive Player of the Year last season, so many think he should be higher than Garrett. And you can also argue that his stats were better last season.
In 2021, Watt had 64 tackles, 22.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, and 21 tackles for losses.
You can understand why some people are annoyed that Watt was rated lower than Garrett, but they probably both deserve it with how talented they both are.
