Myles Garett is currently facing some major backlash as the Cleveland Browns’ voluntary workouts have begun. The 29-year-old defender has established himself as not only one of the best edge rushers in the NFL, but one of the best players in Browns history.
“After He Signed A Contract With Them?”Myles Garrett Completely Disrespects Browns In Statement, Fans Erupt

AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year was awarded to the Cleveland Browns pass rusher in 2023. According to the Sporting News, Garrett was named the 2024 Defensive Player of the Year. For the first time since JJ Watt won the Defensive Player of the Year award in 2014-15, he won the award for the second consecutive year:
When he is on the field, he wreaks havoc.
Unfortunately, aside from his individual success, he has not seen the same type of team success.
When the Browns gave Myles Garrett a $160 million contract, they asked him to step up as a leader. He has not started off well.
Garrett chose to head to Tokyo instead. A story on Garrett’s Instagram showed him shopping in Tokyo while his teammates were in Cleveland for organized team activities (OTAs).
“Tryna buy a place here asap hmu if you know someone,” he captioned the photo, standing on a Tokyo street holding a shopping bag.

While OTAs are voluntary, it doesn’t look great for a player who has just been tasked with stepping up as a team leader.
The Browns took Garrett with the first overall pick in 2017, and he has rewarded them by being a six-time Pro Bowler, a six-time All-Pro, and the 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
“Garrett’s absence is a big deal,” one fan said.
“You would like the leader of your defense to be there…..,” a second fan added.
“That’s really bad news. But at the same time, they’re not mandatory. He’s a veteran. He also may have discussed this all with the @Browns already. He’s a great player, and he’ll make great plays this year. Bottom line,” a third fan added of Myles Garrett.
“Browns are in desperate need of a real leader in that locker room,” another wrote.
“Garrett’s timing isn’t great, but let’s not overreact—it’s voluntary OTAs. Still, leadership presence matters. Hopefully he shows up soon and sets the tone. 🟤🟠,” one final fan wrote.
