The first Monday Night Football game of the season is poised to be one of if not the best matchup in week one. The star-studded Buffalo Bills will travel to MetLife Stadium to take on the up-and-coming New York Jets in an AFC East showdown. It will be a great quarterback battle in the Meadowlands, as Bills’ Josh Allen and Jets’ Aaron Rodgers will go head-to-head to set the tone for the division. According to EatWatchBet, here is who is favored to take the dub in week one.
Buffalo Bills
The Bills are coming off of a great season in 2022, where they finished with an overall record of 13-3. All the hype surrounding this team has definitely died down compared to the past few seasons after Buffalo proved they could not beat Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Divisional Playoff. Fans and analysts alike are now having second thoughts as to whether the Bills can really compete for a Super Bowl title, especially with other AFC powerhouses gaining momentum in the offseason.
However, the Bills are ready to prove the critics wrong and show them why they deserve to be in the conversation of Super Bowl contenders. With the high-powered offense that can score a lot of points quick and a sturdy defense that can shut down most of their opponents, Buffalo is still a formidable force in the NFL.
New York Jets
For the division rival New York Jets, the vibes are much more optimistic, with new quarterback Aaron Rodgers joining the team in the offseason to help the Jets compete for a title. After a promising campaign in 2022, the Jets have gained much more confidence that they can compete with the grueling competition in the AFC East. With tons of young talent on both sides of the field and a veteran quarterback presence to lift team culture, the Jets have fans in New York looking forward to what this team can produce in 2023.
Official Prediction for Monday Night Football
The New York Jets (+2.5) are the slight underdog in this Monday Night Football clash between the Buffalo Bills (-2.5). Even though the Jets have most of the same players as they did last season, and now a veteran quarterback in their presence, Josh Allen and the Bills are a very high-powered team, who will look to give a “warm” welcome to Aaron Rodgers.

It will take a couple of weeks for Rodgers to gain familiarity with his new system in New York, so the Jets may have a chance to be favored when they meet with the Bills once again in week 11 as long as they live up to the hype. It will definitely be a close game to the very last second, but Buffalo will secure the win in week one, giving them an early advantage point in the highly competitive AFC East.
