The Green Bay Packers blew a 21-3 against the Chicago Bears and lost by a final score of 31-27. After the game was over, Green Bay fans were calling for head coach Matt LaFleur to be fired.

Well, Packers fans may not be getting there wish after all. Adam Schefter of espn.com reported on Monday, “Packers now are expected to try to work out a deal in the coming days to keep head coach Matt LaFleur in Green Bay, per sources.” This comes as a major surprise after Green Bay blew that lead against Chicago the other night. This news sent the Packers fanbase into an absolute frenzy.
Green Bay Packers Fans Livid Over Reports About the Team Giving HC Matt LaFleur a Contract Extension

There are a lot of Green Bay fans who are not happy with the potential decision to give LaFleur a contract extension. He has one-year left on his deal and so does general manager Brian Gutekunst. They feel like LaFleur should not be the coach next season and that someone else should be the next head coach. This is what Packers fans had to say on Twitter:

Extending the coach immediately after another disappointing finish is certainly a choice.

I am not mad at LaFleur staying. But the goal for next year has to be new coordinators and the main goal as a team to FINISH. Even when you’re up 18 or 10 or 20, keep your foot on the gas.

So you’re basically saying that they’ll be celebrating in Chicago, Detroit & Minnesota. Great, just great…

They have six months to diagnose the second half collapses. If they can do that, and get the half dozen or so stars back from injury, they will be a formidable team next year!

It will be interesting to see how contract extension talks are going to go for LaFleur. He has been with Green Bay for seven seasons. LaFleur hasn’t been to a Super Bowl yet. There are Packers fans who feel like it would be necessary for a new head coach.
