We all know that not every team in the country has five surefire draft picks on it. Some programs do, especially in some of the more elite conferences; but the vast majority don’t have that many top-flight prospects. But we also know that the definition “top-flight” doesn’t always pan out, and at the same time that strong undrafted free agent everybody forgot? He ends up making the NFL and flourishing.

Below is a look at Missouri’s Top 5 Draft Prospects and how they project in the eyes of Draft Scout. For now, we’ll go strictly with seniors, as no underclassmen have been allowed to declare earlier yet. Though when they do, we will provide updates.

Missouri’s TOP 5 NFL DRAFT PROSPECTS

    NO. 1 PROSPECT

    NAME: Trajan Jeffcoat (Defensive END)

DRAFTSCOUT PROJECTION: 3rd or 4th round

CAREER STATISTICS:  In his four year career at Mizzou, Jeffcoat has 76 tackles with 55 of them being solo. He has 11.5 sacks, 1 pass deflection, and 2 Forced Fumbles.

THE TRUTH: The production for the 6’3, 269 edge rusher has been low. Trajan will be drafted based on size and measurables. He runs a 4.79 forty time and has the perfect build for a third down passer rusher as he has a motor that won’t quit. Trajan is smart and was a 2021 SEC Academic Honor Roll Defensive Lineman. If he learns to disengage blockers he will be great as a stand up end or even drop back into short coverage.

    NO. 2 PROSPECT

    NAME: Javon Foster (OT)

    DRAFTSCOUT PROJECTION: 6th round

CAREER STATISTICS: Started all 13 games for the Tigers at left tackle. Pro Football Focus All-SEC honorable mention. He played 9 games as a sophomore and made the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

THE TRUTH: This man will definitely be drafted with his great size at 6’5, 319 lbs and athleticism. I can see him moving right into a starting right tackle role. He can play left tackle after a few years in the league developing his skills. Think Tyron Smith with the size and skill. Just needs a little refining.

    NO. 3 PROSPECT

    NAME: Darius Robinson (DT)

DRAFTSCOUT PROJECTION: High Priority Free Agent

CAREER STATISTICS: Robinson has 53 career tackles with 29 of them being solo tackles. He has one pass defection and two career sacks.

THE TRUTH: You can’t teach size and effort and Robinson has both at 6’5, 296 lbs. This three technique defensive tackle runs down ball carriers east and west. Needs to work on fending off double teams and staying upright. Watch the film, he never quits on a play and you can’t coach that.

    NO. 4 PROSPECT

    NAME: Connor Wood (OL)

DRAFTSCOUT PROJECTION: High Priority Free Agent

CAREER STATISTICS: Hero Sports Freshman and All-American Hero Sports Sophomore; All-American Honorable Mention. Achieved both at Montana State before transferring to Missouri after the Covid year. In 2021, Wood appeared in all 12 games and started 8 of them. He blocked for a Tigers offense that averaged 400+ yards of offense per game, 29.1 points per game and a total of 44 touchdowns scored.

THE TRUTH: He has good size for an interior lineman at 6’4, 306 lbs. Wood can play all three interior line positions and has a very high football IQ. Wood is an excellent run blocker and has the speed to pull around the end. He can fend off the bullrush, but needs to work on quickness and pass blocking if he wants to make a roster.

    NO. 5 PROSPECT

    NAME: Zeke Powell (OL)

DRAFTSCOUT PROJECTION: High Priority Free Agent

CAREER STATISTICS Played in nine games and made seven starts in 2020, all at left tackle. Only played in five games in 2021. This year he started in the first four games of the season and suffered a season-ending injury at Auburn.

THE TRUTH: If he comes back from his injury, he can definitely make a training camp roster. He has shown that he can play both tackles and also has the size to kick it inside and play the guard spots. The head-to-head injury was pretty brutal.
