There has been a lot of terrible news coming out of the Minnesota Vikings camp as rookie wide receiver Thayer Thomas went down with an apparent injury during the joint practice with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday. He would eventually get up and head to the locker room to get checked out but this was just another scary moment for the offense on Wednesday.
In addition to wide receiver Thayer Thomas’s injury, wide receiver Jordan Addison was carted off as well as it was announced on Wednesday afternoon that rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy will miss the entire season due to a torn meniscus. Thayer Thomas’s status is not yet known as of this writing but did finish the first preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders with three receptions on five target for 24 yards (8.0 yards per catch).
It will be interesting to see how Thayer Thomas will be used throughout the season as the NC State product is in a good position to make the Minnesota Vikings’ 53-man roster.
What should we expect out of Thayer Thomas in the 2024 season for the Minnesota Vikings?
What Thayer Thomas’s ceiling will be with the Minnesota Vikings will be really depends on the health of wide receiver Jordan Addison. He can be a nice bench wide receiver with this team completely healthy but outside of that, he will be an interesting target. Do not expect him to be a wide receiver to stream in fantasy football but can really learn to be a great pro wide receiver as the season goes on and his number is called more often.
