Minnesota Vikings Quarterback J.J. McCarthy Tweets Support For Head Coach Kevin O’Connell After Win Against the Seattle Seahawks

The Vikings won another game on Sunday and quarterback J.J. McCarthy had to say something after the game on Twitter.
What’s the requirements for this Coach of The Year thing again? Asking for a friend
— J.J. McCarthy (@jjmccarthy09) December 23, 2024
This is a very interesting tweet from McCarthy because he is showing major support for head coach Kevin O’Connell. A lot of people believed that the Vikings were going to be a fourth-place team in the NFC North division this season because of quarterback Sam Darnold.
O’Connell has turned Sam Darnold into a reliable starting quarterback. There is a great chance that the Minnesota Vikings could very well franchise tag Darnold at the end of the season instead of signing him to a long-term contract extension.
Quarterback J.J. McCarthy tore his meniscus in the preseason and it caused him to be sidelined for the 2024 season. He is only 21 years old and could also benefit from sitting for another NFL season before becoming the franchise quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings. McCarthy was the 10th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft from Michigan.

The requirement is to be better than Dan Campbell. We’ll see in a few weeks.

No worries, Kevin O’Connell has more than exceeded all requirements to be NFL coach of the year.

There is no question that Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell will be a finalist for the Coach of the Year Award in the NFL. Dan Campbell of the Detroit Lions could also be a finalist. Matt LaFleur of the Green Bay Packers or Nick Sirianni of the Philadelphia Eagles could be the other finalist. Vikings fans would be very upset if O’Connell didn’t win the award this season and so would J.J. McCarthy.
