Former Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has had his fair share of controversy since becoming one of the prominent legends of the NFL. The running back earned more than $100 million throughout his career in the league, however, he is in massive debt that calculates to about $12.5 million, which was ordered by a judge in Houston.
Minnesota Vikings Legend in Debt
This massive order began when Peterson had to pay back a $5.2 million loan he took out back in 2016 that he was going to use to pay back other lenders according to the court records. Since then, that debt has led to an $8.3 million judgment against him, along with $15,000 in attorney’s fees with a nine percent annum, which has led to a total debt of $12.5 million.

Claims Against Peterson
The receiver of this debt, Robert Berleth, also claims that Peterson has been manipulating the situation in order to avoid payments. Earlier this year, a sports memorabilia auction was caught selling the running back’s personal items, which included trophies and jerseys from his time in the NFL. While Peterson claims that he did not ry to auction off his belongings, Berleth has a different version of the story.
The Receiver intercepted an auction the debtor (Peterson) initiated and seized items at Storage Facilities leased and secured with lock by the debtor. The assets belong to the debtor. The leases at the Storage Facilities were delinquent. The debtor constested the sale of trophies.
Legendary Career
The legendary running back has cemented himself as one of the greats of all time in his position. He amounted to 14,918 rushing yards for 120 touchdowns on 3,230 carries. He was drafted by the Vikings in 2007 and played most of his career in Minnesota before bouncing between teams and eventually retiring with the Seattle Seahawks in 2021.
This situation will continue to be updated as more details are still being released. What are your thoughts on the situation?
