Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL entering the 2024 season. Throughout his first four NFL seasons, he has gone over 1,000 yards in each of those seasons. Jefferson only played in 10 games last season. He caught 68 passes for 1,074 yards receiving and five touchdowns, along with averaging 15.8 yards per catch.
Despite missing all of that time last season, he was ranked 19th in receiving yards a season ago. If Justin Jefferson could stay healthy in 2024, he could get close to the 1,809 yards receiving he had during the 2022 season. Jefferson has a chance to get close to 2,000 yards receiving this season if healthy.
He will be the number one wide receiver in the Vikings offense. It will be interesting to see who he is catching passes from in Week 1 against the New York Giants. Who will it be? Rookie J.J. McCarthy or veteran Sam Darnold?
Minnesota Vikings Wide Receiver Justin Jefferson Speaks Out About the Injuries He Had a Season Ago
Jefferson last season was dealing with a hamstring injury and a chest injury. He spoke to reporters on Friday about the injuries he was dealing with a season ago. Jefferson said:
“I’m so scared for it to happen again. I’ve been overly cautious about it just trying to take care of my body in the right way. Just trying to find new ways and new things too that I can implement on my day to-day life that would better help me throughout the season. I definitely been working on my hamstrings a little bit more and making sure that I’m injury-proof.”
Hamstring injuries are one of the most tricky injuries to deal with in the NFL. Justin Jefferson will need to just focus on playing football at some point and not worry about getting hurt again. He also added to the media:
“I’ll get to the point where I feel like I’m not going to think of it again. Just because I feel like I’m gonna push it to where it’s way strong enough for it not to happen again. So it’s just all about being confident in it. Just having that confidence in it to where it’s not going to happen again and I can go out there and play freely.”
The Minnesota Vikings are going to need him to perform this season. They can not afford to have their best player on the sidelines this season.
