The two top NFC North teams will face off this weekend at Lambeau Field. This will determine if the Minnesota Vikings stay in first place in the NFC North, or if the Green Bay Packers can hand the Vikings their first loss and tie for first place in the NFC North. Another solid opponent for Minnesota to deal with. Samual Richard Darnold is playing like an MVP so far, and it’s hard to argue against the Vikings being one of the top teams in the league right now.
Now for Green Bay, Jordan Love has been dealing with an injury that’s kept him out. But it’s been no problem for backup Malik Willis, who got his revenge against his old team the Tennesee Titans and it is now 2-0 as a starter for the Green Bay Packers. However, Willis will get his biggest challenge yet trying to match this high-scoring Minnesota offense, and lockdown hard-hitting Minnesota defense.
Minnesota Vikings Go Into This Game As The Underdog
The Green Bay Packers go into this game as favorites to defeat the Minnesota Vikings, according to BetMGM NFL odds. Honestly, this game will most likely depend on the status of Jordan Love, but if he’s able to go the Packers are capable of beating any team even this one. It will for sure be a challenge though, considering Brian Flores’s defense is the number one defense in the NFL right now. The Packers have a stronger chance of winning if Jordan Love plays, but if Malik Willis starts again, the Vikings may have the upper hand.
Quarterback Injury Updates On Both Sides
The injury update on Jordan Love has been very vague with Coach Matt LaFleur saying.
“We’ll see, I think anybody that saw what happened to him, that’s a legitimate injury. He’s working through it. He’s doing everything in his power to be out there. We want him out there.”
Jordan Love went through pregame drills Sunday before officially being ruled inactive against the Tennessee Titans. That led Malik Willis to start in his second straight game, and Malik Willis’s play has helped the Packers do more than just survive in Jordan Love’s absence they’ve been thriving so far no matter who’s at quarterback.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold suffered a bruised knee when he was hit low in the third quarter of the Vikings’ 34-7 victory over the Houston Texans. Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell has already mentioned that Sam Darnold is expected to play Sunday against the Packers.
History And Stats Going Into Sunday’s Matchup Between Rivals
The Vikings and Packers are 2-of-3 remaining teams that have led at halftime in all three games this regular season so far. Now Minnesota is second in the NFL in first-half point differential which is +31, while Green Bay is third with a +25. The Packers lead the league in yards per drive in the first half of games with 46.7 yards per drive. The Vikings averaged 38.9 yards per drive in the first half, which is fifth in the league. The Vikings lead the league with 7.3 sacks plus takeaways per game.
While Green Bay is right behind with 6.7 sacks plus takeaways per game. Minnesota has allowed 0.94 points per drive, their fewest through three games since the 2010 season. This is set to be a battle to the very end and should be an extremely exciting game to watch come Sunday afternoon.
