The Minnesota Vikings were 14-3 entering Monday night’s matchup against the Los Angeles Rams (10-7). The Vikings struggled all night long in a 27-9 loss on the road against the Rams.
This game had to be moved to Arizona because of the wildfires in Los Angeles, California. Sam Darnold struggled for the Minnesota Vikings. He completed 25-of-40 passes for 245 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
Minnesota Vikings Fans Want J.J. McCarthy As Starting Quarterback In 2025 Instead Of Sam Darnold
After the game on Monday night, the Vikings fans were finished with Sam Darnold and they want J.J. McCarthy to be the starting quarterback next season. Minnesota could bring back Darnold on a franchise tag or a new contract. However, McCarthy could very well be ready to start next year despite not playing this year due to a torn meniscus during the preseason.

It will be interesting to see what the Vikings decide to do with Sam Darnold this offseason. It appears as if head coach Kevin O’Connell is ready to turn the page and do something different next season.
Potential Landing Spots For Darnold
If the Minnesota Vikings don’t bring him back, there is no question that there will be some suitors for him. They won’t overpay for him, but someone will get him. Some teams that will be in the market for him are the Cleveland Browns, the Las Vegas Raiders, the Indianapolis Colts, the New York Giants, and the Tennessee Titans.
The Giants, Browns, and Titans are all drafting in the Top 3. There is a chance that all of those teams could sign a veteran quarterback before the 2025 NFL season. Assuming Darnold leaves the Vikings, J.J. McCarthy would probably start next year, but would Daniel Jones come back as the backup quarterback? That remains to be seen as well also.
