Minnesota Vikings rookie edge rusher Dallas Turner was one of their two first-round selections in the 2024 NFL Draft. He was the 17th overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. The other rookie who they took in the first round in this class was quarterback J.J. McCarthy from Michigan.
Turner had an effective year last season with the Alabama Crimson Tide. He helped them win the SEC title against the Georgia Bulldogs before they lost to Michigan in the college football playoff. Dallas Turner in 14 games with Alabama recorded 53 tackles, 14.5 tackles for a loss, and 10 sacks. He was one of the best defensive players in this year’s draft class.
The only reason why he slipped in the draft was because a lot of teams early in the draft went with offensive players. A lot of good defensive players slipped into the second round because of it.
Minnesota Vikings Edge Rusher Dallas Turner Getting Reps Against Christian Darrisaw In Camp
Darrisaw recently signed a contract extension with the Vikings. Head coach Kevin O’Connell said to the media about Dallas Turner this week:
“Dallas loves football, so every day is a new day. He always has a smile on his face, but it’s not a smile that I would recommend taking as giddy or taking things lightly. It’s a smile that he has bad intentions to do some things on a daily basis. It’s one that I’m OK seeing because I get to wear a whistle and a polo shirt.”
Minnesota Vikings Christian Darrisaw has been dealing with Dallas Turner in camp and Iron has been sharpening iron. Darrisaw said to the media:
“He’s going to be a great rusher, and every day we’re making each other better. He’s a smart kid. He wants it all, and you can tell every day he comes out here giving his all.”
Dallas Turner is only 21 years old and all he wants to do is get better moving forward. Turner also said to the media:
“Just stacking days. You know it ain’t going to be perfect, but day by day, you’re going to get a little ‘dub,’ a little sack, which is nice. We’re working every day, grinding, talking, learning.”
Turner will need to replace the production of former Minnesota Vikings pass rusher Danielle Hunter. Hunter was a very good pass rusher with the Vikings. Turner will look to step in and get after the quarterback during his rookie season and beyond.
