Aaron Jones checked all the boxes in his return to Lambeau Field as the Minnesota Vikings ran all over the Green Bay Packers for a pivotal division win.
Jones was a driving force for the Vikings’ offense, and a stabilizing form of balance even as the offense went through a major lull for much of the third quarter, finishing Sunday’s contest with 93 rushing yards on 22 carries while adding 46 receiving yards.
No Lambeau Leap? No Problem for Minnesota Vikings RB Aaron Jones
Afterwards, Jones sounded off on why the win was so meaningful, months after the Packers released him after signing former rushing champion Josh Jacobs to replace him in the backfield alongside quarterback Jordan Love.
“I’m like, ‘You guys are worried about me Lambeau Leaping? You guys should be worried about the score,’” Jones said, via the team’s website. “I came here and got what I wanted and I did get my Lambeau Leap in, so I got a two-for-one. Just didn’t score, but I still got the Lambeau Leap.”
Jones might not have gotten to leap into the front row at Lambeau, but he and his Vikings made an emphatic statement that this is a team to take seriously in the NFC North.
Through four games, Jones has already compiled 321 rushing yards with one touchdown for the now 4-0 Vikings.
