Miles Sanders was a part of the Philadelphia Eagles team that went to the Super Bowl. However, he opted to leave in free agency for the Carolina Panthers. This was a curious move to some though it is unclear if the Eagles were going to offer him a significant contract. In a recent interview, he blasted his former team over his lack of playing time in the Super Bowl.
Miles Sanders Calls Out The Philadelphia Eagles
Sanders was only on the field for 26 snaps and only had 7 carries for 16 yards. He never really got going. Sanders thought he could have done a lot more if he was given the opportunity.
“Last game of the season? For all of the marbles? Everybody can answer that question,” Sanders said, via Steve Reed of the Associated Press. “If they put themselves in my shoes, would they be happy? I don’t want to make headlines, [but] if it does, I don’t care. I can get into that another day, maybe,” Sanders said. “Maybe you should ask them why I’m moving here.”
While he didn’t say it directly, it seems his lack of playing time in the Super Bowl was a big reason that he left. He didn’t enjoy standing and watching while the Eagles lost to the Chiefs and was looking for a fresh start.
Will He Make A Difference On Carolina?
The Eagles, and honestly the rest of the league, seem very content in letting running backs walk. The Panthers have some interesting pieces going into 2023. First-overall pick Bryce Young will more than likely be the week 1 starter. Adam Thielen signed in the offseason and will add veteran leadership to the offense along with Sanders. Brian Burns and the rest of the defense are no slouches either. In a weak NFC South, it isn’t hard to see the Panthers winning the division.
Miles Sanders is still not happy with the Philadelphia Eagles. Now he gets a chance to prove his worth with another team and no doubt he will be motivated to have a big season for the Panthers.
