Mike Tomlin talks about Kenny Pickett

Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping for quarterback Kenny Picket to make a lead in his second year in the NFL. The Pittsburgh favorite had an up-and-down rookie season for the Steelers. But he looked more polished towards the end of the year and helped bring the Steelers into Week 18 with the potential to make the playoffs. Pickett finished the season throwing for 2,404 yards, seven touchdown passes, and nine interceptions.

Tomlin recently spoke about Pickett’s potential for the 2023 season. According to Brooke Pryor with ESPN, Tomlin said he’s excited about Pickett’s next season:

I’m excited about Kenny individually in terms of the growth that he’s capable of making and, and what he’s willing to do to realize that,” Tomlin said at the league’s annual owners meetings in Phoenix. “I think I’m probably more excited about that because I’ve just been around him intimately now for 12 months.

There was some anticipation things because of the close proximity that we’ve all talked about quite a bit, but the reality of having worked with him for 12 months, it’s just more evidence of what we should be excited about — his willingness to work, his professional approach, his maturity in processing. It’s exciting.”

If Pickett can progress as Tomlin hopes, the team should have a chance to make the playoffs. But the AFC North will be one of the toughest divisions in the NFL next season.
