The Buffalo Bills made an-under-the radar but “significant” not to retain a coach for the upcoming 2024 season. The Bills have made changes to their staff in the previous few years after losing early in the playoffs.

The Buffalo Bills have had major coaching turnover recently

Bills quarterback Josh Allen is about to fumble the ball as he is hit from behind by Miami’s Jaelan Phillips.

The Bills made surprising decisions last offseason to part ways with numerous coaches on the defensive staff, including their defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, who has been a candidate for several head coaching jobs in recent years.

The Bills did not retain Mike Shula

Per Sal Capaccio with WGR550, the Bills made a “significant” decision not to retain Mike Shula, who had been the team’s senior offensive assistant.

A little bit of Bills news. Mike Shula’s contract expired and he was not retained.

Shula had been the team’s Senior Offensive Assistant for the past two seasons.

Shula has extensive experience with quarterbacks

Shula has been a coach in the league since 1988. He has several prior NFL jobs related to coaching quarterbacks and experience as an offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Giants, and Carolina Panthers.

The Bills have not yet announced a replacement for Shula.

Mike Shula is the son of legendary Miami Dolphins coach Don Shula. By not retaining Mike, the Bills are losing a big piece of the NFL’s brain trust.
