Florida State got pantsed by Georgia in their December Orange Bowl contest. The Orange Bowl was FSU’s consolation prize after being knocked out of the College Football Playoff last season. The committee kept FSU out of the playoffs after Jordan Travis suffered an injury against North Alabama.
Florida State has struggled without Jordan Travis
Mike Norvell is 2-2 since losing Travis, a star college football quarterback. FSU opened its 2024 season on Saturday against Georgia Tech. The offense sputtered in DJ Uiagalelei’s first start for FSU. He went 19/27 for 193 in No. 10 FSU’s 24-21 loss to Georgia Tech.
Fans on social media are crushing Norvell, whose offense put up 291 yards against Georgia Tech. After being blown out 63-3 by Georgia in the Orange Bowl, many thought FSU would come out on fire with much to prove. However, Norvell looks lost as a coach without Travis, who was drafted in the fifth round by the New York Jets in April.
The running game was atrocious, but FSU’s offensive playcalling looked uninspired in Saturday’s loss. The team played flat and uninspired. FSU has no time to feel sorry for themselves, as they’ll have to regroup before they play Boston College on Sept. 2.
College football fans light up Mike Norvell
Fans trashed Norvell for FSU’s performance on Saturday. Many connected Travis’ absence as being the key to the offense’s lack of success.
Awful…. The one thing I never thought I would see from a Mike Norvell team is a team that showed little to no effort when it mattered

I ashamed for I watch on TV, poor performance and poor coaching, gt came to play not FSU, Mike Norvell get your shit together, and you probably lost some recruits because of lack of coaching and playing calling

Nah I think the problem is that Mike Norvell took too long to get DJ going. They leaned too much on the run bc of the first drive and didn’t allow DJ to get into a rhythm. Once he did he was successful, just look at the drive that tied the game.

Imagine flying all the way to Dublin to own Herbie and then you get to watch Mike Norvell coach not to lose.
Epitome of brutality

Mike Norvell coached a bad game today. Instead of realizing his running game wasn’t working, he still refused to change his play calling. DJ didn’t have a great game, but the plays being called didn’t allow him to get into any rhythm. pic.twitter.com/xYbubq461C
