The college football world was quick to react after the Purdue Boilermakers failed to score a touchdown due to the confusing field design.
At one point during the loss to the Penn State Nittany Lions, the Boilermakers attempted to score what looked like an easy touchdown. However, wide receiver De’Nylon Morrissette was lined up with both feet out of bounds during his catch, thus resulting in an incomplete pass.
Morrissette was standing outside of the boundaries of the end zone which is unfortunately painted the same color as the boundary, making it difficult to judge where the end zone really ends. The opposing Penn State defender in the area stood and “taunted” Morrissette by holding his hands on his hips and shaking his head at the receiver. Morrissette did not record a reception against Penn State and hit the bench shortly after his unfortunate mistake occurred.
While many fans were upset with the obviously confusing field design, some fans also pointed out the fact that Morrissette should be accustomed to the field at this point. The design has been something the team and players have known about for quite some time now, meaning there has been enough time for the team to properly adjust.
College Football Fans React to Terrible Purdue Boilermakers Field Design
The Boilermakers never quite stood a chance against the Nittany Lions to begin with, but the idea of losing points due to field irregularities is ridiculous. Many college football fans and accounts were quick to make sure the Boilermakers understood what the new field design was doing to the potential success of the team.

Purdue painted out-of-bounds the same color as the endzone. Absolutely incredible ineptitude here… pic.twitter.com/2LiX7E6id2

In what world would they think that’s a good idea?

Who would have thought that design would be a good idea lmfao

Genius 🙄

Exactly why you paint that part of the end zone white to make it abundantly clear which part is out of bounds.
— Buckeye HQ (@RealisticBuck) November 16, 2024
They played themselves with that end zone design.

Home team’s fault for that dumb design

The girl jumping up and down like he’s not completely out of bounds like it’s not even close 😂

Why it’s so stupid to have out of bounds the same color as the Endzone. Took a real genius to have that idea.

Nice paint job Purdue!
