Sherrone Moore and the Michigan Wolverines just received some great news. Superstar safety Rod Moore just announced he would be returning to Ann Arbor for a fifth season.
Moore is a two-time all-Big-10 selection and has recorded 142 tackles and six interceptions in 37 career games. Most memorably, Moore had the game-sealing interception against Ohio State in 2023 to send the Wolverines to the Big 10 Championship en route to a National Championship.

Moore was a projected day two pick in the NFL Draft, but elected to return to Michigan for his senior season. But he tore his ACL during spring practice and missed the entire 2024 season. Now in hopes to raise his draft stock, Moore will spend another year in the maize and blue.
What This Means for the Michigan Wolverines
Rod Moore’s returning to Michigan is huge for Wink Martindale’s defense. Not only does Moore bring championship experience, but also leadership. He was voted a team captain in 2024 before his season-ending injury, and instead of sitting back during his recovery he embraced a new role.
Moore went by “Coach Rod” and served as a connection between coaches and players. He helped transfers Aamir Hall, Wesley Walker, and Ricky Johnson learn the playbook and pushed the rest of the secondary get better everyday.
Now “Coach Rod” gets the chance to return to his role as the star safety. He adds valuable experience to a young Wolverine secondary. Michigan’s defensive weak point in 2024 was the secondary, so getting a safety of Moore’s caliber helps immensely.
And who knows after Moore’s playing career, he could have a future in coaching for the Michigan Wolverines.
