Michigan opened its 2024 college football season last week with a win against Fresno State, and some former people who used to walk the sidelines were no longer there for this season’s opener.
Former head coach Jim Harbaugh is no longer coaching the team and is now in the NFL, and former analyst Connor Stalions, who nobody knew last year at this time, also was not around.
Stalions was the leader of the sign-stealing operation that broke last season, and he stepped down from his role as coach after he and the team were caught stealing signs.
A new Netflix documentary came out last month that was titled Sign Stealer, and it was all about how Stalions was getting the signs. The documentary never stated if Stalions was stealing them illegally, but the NCAA and Big Ten have evidence that the signs were stolen in an illegal way, and that’s why the Big Ten suspended Harbaugh last season, and the NCAA is about to hand down a punishment.
Stalions couldn’t stay away from football forever, and this summer, he accepted a job as the defensive coordinator at Detroit Mumford High School.
Even though Stalions has only been at the school for a few months, according to Dennis Dodd from CBS, Stalions will be acting as the team’s head coach for a while because, sadly, the current head coach, William McMichael, suffered a mild stroke.

It’s sad to see the current head coach have a horrible health scare. Hopefully, he will fully recover and be back coaching the team soon. In the meantime, Stalions is going to be the head coach. If you watched the documentary, Stalions is a football nut who loves the game more than anyone, so he will take the job seriously.
Fans took to social media to react to the news, and here are some of their thoughts.
