Michigan has certainly ramped up their recruiting efforts. After being criticized this summer, Jim Harbaugh has amped up his recruiting pitches to the top recruits. And it seems to be working. Top quarterback recruit Jadyn Davis had a positive visit in week 2 and many others have been hosted by the Wolverines. Last weekend, Michigan impressed another top recruit during a visit.

Harbor is a five star athlete in the 2023 class. He is the top athlete prospect and no. 9 overall. He spent the weekend in Ann Arbor and attended the game versus Maryland. Apparently, Harbaugh and his staff knocked it out of the park. Getting the experience the Big House on a Saturday is an experience. 110,000 people cheering is not something that many college stadiums have. Michigan getting the win helped as well as Harbor getting to hang out with the coaches and a lot of players on the team. However, this visit was about something more.
Convincing The Parents

Harbor has been on campus multiple times but he wanted his parents to get to know the campus as well. One big aspect of the school Harbor chooses will be the academics. He talked about this in an interview post-visit.
“What stood out about (the academics) was Michigan is going to give you that degree that other schools can’t because you’re basically getting an Ivy League education with a Power 5 athletic team. It’s the best of both worlds.”
That is pretty high praise for the University of Michigan. The school is known throughout the country as having robust academic programs and this could be the factor that brings Harbor to Ann Arbor.
Will Good Visits Turn Into Commitments?

The excellent visits are great. The question remains whether they will actually turn into commitments. Clearly Harbaugh and his coaching staff can create a weekend that moves the needle towards Michigan. However, the question remains whether it will be enough to pull recruits in. It is fairly easy, especially with the resources that Michigan has, to create an amazing experience for a weekend. It is yet another to create an experience that has such a lasting effect on a person that they want to spend three to four years on campus. Hopefully in the coming months, Michigan will see some commitments.
Even without the commitments, hearing that visits are going well is positive. It is certainly much better than the alternative. Michigan has done all they can do with another top recruit. Now they wait for a decision.
