‘Free Money’: Michigan Football Fans Erupt After Opening As Massive 23.5-Point Underdog Against Arch Rival Ohio State

Michigan football is amid a brutal 2024 season. However, most Michigan Wolverines would likely trade poor results in 2024 for their undefeated championship run last year. Following their epic win in last season’s College Football Playoff, Michigan lost most of their playmakers, including the backfield duo of quarterback J.J. McCarthy and running back Blake Clorum. Meanwhile, head coach Jim Harbaugh darted for the NFL, filling the frontman vacancy with the Los Angeles Chargers. Nevertheless, despite sitting at 5-5 entering the season’s final two weeks, the Michigan faithful have kept hope.

On Friday, FanDuel Sportsbook updated their line for “The Game,” the regular season tilt between Michigan football and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Despite getting 23.5 points on the road in Columbus, the Wolverine devotees believe they can pull the upset and potentially squash the College Football Playoff hopes of their rival.

Who you got?

Michigan football must split their final two regular season games to earn bowl eligibility. On Saturday, Michigan will host 4-6 Northwestern as a 10.5-point favorite. However, if they cannot secure a win against the Big Ten foe, they must go on the road and beat the one-loss Ohio State Buckeyes in the regular season finale. FanDuel Sportsbook opened the line on Friday, with the Buckeyes laying 23.5 points against the Wolverines. Ohio State will play undefeated Indiana on Saturday. Still, with a win, they could position themselves to play in the Big Ten title game, barring a shocking home loss to rival Michigan on the final weekend of November.

Ohio State’s lone loss came on the road against top-ranked Oregon, 32-31. Meanwhile, following a remarkable 15-0 season, Michigan has struggled in the first year of the Sherrone Moore era. Most notably, at 5-5, the offense has labored with the Big Ten power using a trio of quarterbacks with little success. Davis Warren will likely finish the season at quarterback for the Wolverines and has tossed five touchdowns against six picks across six starts. Yet, despite the offensive woe and down season, Michigan football fans are not rolling out an upset on the road against OSU, albeit as more than a three-touchdown underdog:
