Michigan Stadium, aka The Big House, is the home of last year’s College Football Playoff Championship Game winner, the Michigan football program. On Saturday, the Michigan Wolverines hosted the Texas Longhorns in a matchup of top-ten squads. However, with less than three minutes remaining in the third quarter, Michigan is in unprecedented territory, trailing 31-6 on their home turf. The Big House, with a seating capacity of 107,601, could lack its usual vocal punch in the fourth quarter, with reports of fans leaving early.
Michigan has not suffered a double-digit home loss to a team outside Ohio State since 2014. Yet, on Saturday, after trailing by 24-3 at the half, many fans were seen heading for the parking lot before the start of the third quarter.
Michigan Football Fans Seen Leaving Stadium During Blowout Loss
According to RedditCFB on Twitter:
Several Michigan fans are spotted leaving the Big House at halftime.
In the video, multiple Michigan fans donning the team’s signature blue, white, and yellow are seen heading for the gates, and likely the parking lot, with their team trailing by three scores at the break. The Texas Longhorns tripled Michigan’s offense in yardage during the game’s first 30 minutes. Nearing the end of the third quarter, Michigan football quarterback Davis Warren is 9-of-16 for 73 yards and two interceptions. Tight end Colston Loveland has a team-high three receptions for 36 yards but has also fumbled.
Last season, Michigan football went a perfect 15-0, winning their tenth title in program history. However, head coach Jim Harbaugh darted for the NFL, leading to the Big Ten power elevating offensive coordinator Sharrone Moore to the top spot. Unfortunately, after the team struggled to dominate Fresno State in last weekend’s season opener, they are in danger of suffering one of the worst home losses in program history, with many fans in attendance opting to leave at halftime.
