Michael Penix Jr. showed he is much more than a pocket passer at Washington’s Pro Day.
Penix is one of the top six quarterbacks heading into the 2024 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, many draft analysts have him sixth on the list. Penix did his best to impress everyone at his Pro Day, and most would say he did.
Michael Penix Jr. is an Athlete
Michael impressed all naysayers with his impressive workout numbers before he even threw a pass. He had a 36.5-inch vertical jump, a 10’5″ broad jump, and a 4.46 40-yard dash. Many would say that was not expected.

Penix can sling it. There is no denying that. He showed off his arm talent in the College Football Playoff and backed it up with a solid performance in the National Championship.

Michael was in the spotlight during his national championship run, but that spotlight hit much differently during the NFL Draft.
Penix did not shy away from the camera, though. He was impressive any time he was in front of a microphone. He alluded to his prep during the season, not just pre-draft, that helped him prepare for this moment.

ESPN NFL Interview:
Penix Jr.’s workout was impressive, especially with the numbers he tested with. He was quoted saying, “I ain’t no bum. I want to show off my athleticism and prove that I can run when I need to.” He definitely did that.
