Per Zack Jackson with The Athletic, a Cleveland Browns rookie is reportedly expected to be arrested in connection to a domestic dispute that occurred on Monday night. The Browns are currently in training camp, preparing for their second preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday.
A Cleveland Browns player is expected to be arrested
Per Jackson’s report on X:
Browns rookie DT Michael Hall is expected to be arrested following a domestic dispute Monday night.
Per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the Browns released a statement Tuesday morning:
“We are aware of the incident involving Mike Hall, Jr. last night. Mike and his representatives have been in touch with the appropriate authorities. We are in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment at this time.”
The Browns have big plans for Hall
The Browns selected Hall, a defensive tackle from Ohio, in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Per the Browns’ website, the team had big plans for the former Ohio State standout.
At 6-foot-2, 280 pounds, Hall brings a unique skillset to the Browns’ defense. In his three seasons at Ohio State, Hall tallied 45 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and six sacks. His best season came during the 2023 season, as he set a career high of 24 total tackles.
Hall fits defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz’s attack-style defense with the way that he can move his body and attack the quarterback. Assistant GM & Vice President of Player Personnel Glenn Cook described Hall as “shapeshifter,” and has a strong ability to impact the quarterback.
The Browns had to deal with another legal issue earlier this year
The Browns had another defensive lineman face legal issues earlier in the offseason. As previously discussed on GH, the Browns released second-year defensive end Lonnie Phelps following an alleged drunk driving incident in Florida in June:
A report from TMZ came out on Thursday that defensive lineman Lonnie Phelps was arrested on Wednesday night after cops say he drunkenly crashed an SUV into a restaurant and then refused to cooperate with a police investigation afterward.
Phelps was in Key West, Florida, and according to their police department, they were dispatched to a scene where a black Hyundai had crashed into the side of a restaurant.
