Dallas Cowboys defensive end Micah Parsons and the drama surrounding his potential contract extension with the Cowboys have gained the reaction of one analyst, who called out how “dumb and unnecessary” all the drama around a new contract has been.

In one recent video, ESPN analyst Louis Riddick got honest about the Micha Parson contract extension drama.
“From a pure football standpoint, this is just dumb!” Riddick said during a segment on NFL Live. “This whole thing just feels so dumb and unnecessary. Why is one of the most explosive, game-changing players in the league, who plays one of the most impactful positions, literally having a press conference with reporters on the field talking about the fact that, ‘They don’t want me here if this is the end’? I mean, are you kidding me? Like, what is that?”

The Dallas Cowboys are facing mounting scrutiny over their handling of contract negotiations with All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal.

Although Parsons was an elite producer and a working leader on the defensive side of the ball last year, none of this matters in the grand scheme of things because Parsons does not have a long-term deal, which fans, analysts, and Parsons himself are increasingly frustrated by.
Micah Parsons Gets Contract Negotiation Tips From CeeDee Lamb
More than once now, Micah Parsons has expressed dissatisfaction in the media and on podcasts about what he deems the Dallas Cowboys’ front office mishandled contract negotiations. He has gone as far as to criticize the owner and say that the process has been made almost purposefully difficult.

However, teammate CeeDee Lamb, who just went through tense negotiations for his own extension, disagrees with Parsons. Lamb advocates for evaluating private disagreements in private and is not sure that involving Jerry Jones will yield the most favorable outcome.
“Obviously, playing this media game with Jerry is not the best,” Lamb said. “It’s not fun. It’s not recommended. (Micah) knows what he brings to the table. He should get what he deserves. I’m not indulging in any of the craziness that they got going, but I do want Micah to get paid, soon.”
Looking back on that experience, Lamb told Parsons to be careful not to let negotiations get distracting. He said that even more than in the past, it is important to stay focused and keep talks out of the public eye in the media age, and especially when it comes to having a media-savvy owner like Jones, who bends public sentiment to his favor.

While Lamb acknowledged that Micah Parsons has valid points about the Cowboys’ negotiation tactics, he warns that being right doesn’t guarantee results. In his view, challenging Jones through the media rarely speeds up the process.
