Once again, Dallas Cowboys fans are left frustrated as the long-running contract extension saga involving their star pass rusher Micah Parsons hits another snag.
Team insider Clarence Hill Jr. reported on Wednesday that there has been no progress in negotiations between the Cowboys and Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta.
“Per source, there has been no movement forward with the Cowboys and Mulugheta on a Parsons deal,” Hill wrote on X.
Parsons is currently set to play the 2025 season under his fifth-year option, which will pay him $24.07 million. While both sides have reportedly been working toward a long-term extension that could make Parsons the highest-paid defensive player in league history, they now appear to be at a standstill.

Micah Parsons Eyes $40M Payday: ‘I’d Be the Happiest Man Alive’
Back in March, Parsons was confident about how things were going. He told reporters the talks were “coming along well,” and didn’t shy away from revealing what kind of money he’s aiming for.
“I just played these last couple years on $2 [million] and $3 million,” Parsons said. “I think if I had $40 million, I’d be the happiest man alive. You go from playing for the league rookie minimum and get that big of a jump, I think anybody would be happy.”

That $40 million price tag would put him in rare company—making him not just the highest-paid defender, but one of the top-paid non-quarterbacks in NFL history. Projections around the league estimate Parsons is in line for a five-year deal worth roughly $200 million.
And let’s be honest—it’s hard to argue against his case. Since entering the league, Parsons has stacked up a ridiculous résumé: four straight Pro Bowl nods, two First-Team All-Pro honors, and the 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year title. Statistically, he’s racked up 52.5 sacks, 63 tackles for loss, and 112 QB hits in just 63 games.

Despite the current stalemate, Parsons has expressed his commitment to the franchise that drafted him. “Cowboy for life,” he’s said more than once—a message that still rings true even with the business side of football getting in the way.
At this point, it’s a waiting game. Will Jerry Jones and the Cowboys finally back up the Brinks truck? Or will this saga drag deep into training camp and beyond?
Either way, Cowboys Nation is watching closely.
