The Miami Hurricanes lost in heart breaking fashion to the Syracuse Orange. The 6th ranked Hurricanes were unable to match Syracuse’s 28 second half points and eventually dropped to 10-2 on the year. It is likely that Miami will still have a solid chance of making the 12-team college football playoff this year.
However, news stories after the game have been talking about what happened on the sidelines more than the game itself.
“I Worked Tirelessly” Miami Hurricanes Mascot’s Sideline Actions Toward Female Reporter Goes Viral
Sometimes college football games have crazy sidelines. CNY Central’s Ashley Wenskoski is a sideline reporter. This is what she Tweeted during the game:
“Sebastian the Ibis (Miami’s mascot) just kneeled down and asked for my number mid-drive Feels like he has bigger things to worry about with his team on the ropes in the 4th quarter at the Dome…but who am I to say.”
Interestingly, the Hurricanes mascot requested her phone number, which she obviously refused to provide. Although the mascot gave it his best shot, it probably wasn’t the right time.
“Dude was focused on the wrong game,” one fan joked in response. While a second said: “Can’t blame him. Shooters shoot!”
“Crazy I now have context to an awkward situation I saw from 30 rows up the internet is wild,” a third replied. And another added: “The mascot must have felt he may not get another opportunity to ask!”
Wenskoski commented on this going so viral:
And more importantly, Syracuse football won its biggest game in years & my team and I worked tirelessly to provide the best possible sports coverage

I guess Miami’s mascot simply couldn’t watch that 4th quarter.… https://t.co/PyuPFpFmOD
