The Miami Hurricanes will play in the College Football Playoff, barring a massive collapse. However, their national title hopes took a hit on Saturday, losing to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 28-23 on the road. With the return of quarterback Haynes King after a two-game absence, Georgia Tech used eight different rushers to tally 271 rushing yards in the narrow victory against their ACC foe. For the fourth time in five games, Miami needed a stellar showing in the final 15 minutes to emerge victorious but fell short on Saturday against a now six-win Yellow Jackets team.
Entering this weekend, Miami sat as the fourth-ranked team in the College Football Playoff standings, but their most recent loss will undoubtedly banish them from the top five. With the Miami Hurricanes finally losing after starting the season 9-0, many fans who questioned the team’s validity over the past month took to Twitter to criticize the no longer undefeated squad.
Fans Crush Miami Hurricanes Following Tough Loss

According to ESPN on Twitter:
GEORGIA TECH HANDS NO. 4 MIAMI ITS FIRST LOSS OF THE SEASON
The Miami Hurricanes are no longer undefeated, losing to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Saturday, 28-23. As a 9.5-point favorite, Miami trailed 28-14 late in the fourth quarter before superstar quarterback Cam Ward found program-leading wideout Xavier Restrepo for a 38-yard score. The Hurricanes forced a Yellow Jackets punt at the two-minute warning but could not erase the five-point deficit following a backbreaking fumble.
Ward finished the game 25-of-349 yards and three touchdowns, but the ACC power went just 3-of-10 on third down conversions. Conversely, Georgia Tech went 9-of-14 on third down and ran for 271 yards on 46 carries. Georgia Tech used two quarterbacks, with starter Haynes King going 6-of-6 for 32 yards and a score. With the Miami Hurricanes surviving three fourth-quarter scares earlier this season, college football fans were eager to bash the Mario Cristobal-led team following their first loss:
