Miami Dolphins are primed to have quarterback Tua Tagovailoa back after a scary Week 2 concussion to the Buffalo Bills. The incident had fans concerned about Tagovailoa’s long-term health and whether he should retire. But after speaking with medical specialists over the bye, the Dolphins signal-caller is adamant about returning to the field.

Tua Tagovailoa Potential Return
Tua Tagovailoa has been on IR since that Week 2 collision with Bills safety Damar Hamlin, which left him in the fencing position—a troubling sign of head trauma. While the injury was serious, Tagovailoa has reportedly not had any additional complications and is set to return to practice this week. Even though he was cleared of the concussion protocol weeks ago. The Dolphins’ $212.4 million quarterback could return as early as Week 8 against the Arizona Cardinals if all goes well.
Tagovailoa’s absence has been costly for the Dolphins, getting just two touchdowns and an average of 10 points per game. Despite players like Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle at their disposal, backup quarterbacks Tyler Huntley and Skylar Thompson have been unable to move the offense. Since Tagovailoa’s injury, the team has gone 0-3 and desperately needs the stability he brings.
Still, head coach Mike McDaniel said the team isn’t ready to pass Tagovailoa off the radar yet, all while being very careful about their next steps. McDaniel says he expects him to play this season, but ‘we’ll let the process play out.’
With Tua Tagovailoa, the Dolphins might have the offensive spark that can get their season back on track, but the quarterback will be monitored closely as he tries to get Miami going in the second half of the year.
