Every Miami Dolphins and NFL fan around the world was in horror to watch what transpired on the field to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. It is truly painful to watch for everyone when a player goes down in a football game. But it is especially awful to see the type of concussion that Tua suffered on the field.
This is sadly not a new story and in the 2022 season, Tua suffered two concussions as well. It is hard to watch something like that, and to watch it over and over to the same man is truly painful. Many fans and players around the league are encouraging Tua to walk away from the game.
It is Time For Tua Tagovailoa To Retire
Back in 2022, Tua had suffered enough that season alone that he already contemplated if he should walk away from the game. A person’s health and safety far outweigh playing football, even though it brings in incredible wealth.
Tua managed to stay healthy all of the 2023 season, and put up some of the best stats in football. He was given a huge contract by Miami this offseason because of his performance. However, he was candid last season about his contemplation of retirement, and he must have to contemplate that again now:
“I considered it for a time, having sat down with my family, having sat down with my wife and having those conversations,” Tagovailoa said. “But, really, it would be hard for me to walk away from this game with how old I am, with my son. I always dreamed of playing as long as I could to where my son knew exactly what he was watching his dad do.
“It’s my health. It’s my body. And I feel like this is what’s best for me and my family. I love the game of football,” he said. “If I didn’t, I would’ve quit a long time ago.”
These are not just ‘regular’ concussions, as if that were any better, these are intense concussions that leave severe brain damage as can be seen by how Tua’s body reacts to it.
While he may have come back after a brutal 2022 season, it may be seriously time for him to consider retirement. It’s not that he can’t come back from this injury and play, but this can clearly happen to him at any given moment on the field and from any type of defender.
It was Damar Hamlin who made the tackle on the play, and it certainly was far from a hard hit if you can call it that. Tua seemed to have avoided this all of last season, but it may be time to think about walking away for his health. Andrew Luck and many other players have walked away because of their health, and Tua should heavily consider the same.
NFL World Is Praying For Tua Tagovaiola
The entire NFL world across multiple fan bases, analysts, and multiple former players are all praying for Tua, but they are not just offering prayers. It seems that many around the league are calling for Tua to retire, let alone think about retirement. It’s hard to see a player go down the way he has so many times and not feel that it is time to walk away. He’s putting his life in danger at this point. Here is the NFL world calling for Tua to retire.

Tua gets 93M no questions asked and probably 167M if he has to retire due to injury.
He fought back from absolutely horrifying concussions to lead the league in passing and earn that contract from the Dolphins.
He has to really consider hanging it up after tonight.

The prayers are coming from all over the NFL world. We all hope Tua has a comprehensive and speedy recovery, but he should really consider if this is worth his life and his functioning. It is probably time to walk away as hard as that may be when your life is in jeopardy.
He can take his money and walk away from the game.
