The Miami Dolphins enter the offseason with an unfavorable cap situation. Miami is currently $13.32 million over the cap and must be under the cap by Wednesday, March 12 at 3:00 PM CT, which is also known as the start of the new league year. For the next month, the Dolphins will restructure and renegotiate contracts and release players so that they can be salary cap compliant.
The team made their first roster move of the offseason a little while ago.

According to Raheem Mostert’s agent, Brett Tessler, the Dolphins informed him that he would no longer be a member of the team, ending his three-year stint in Miami. The Dolphins will free up $2,947,353 in cap space and incur a dead cap hit of $1,000,000 for 2025. With this move, they are $10,373,045 over the cap.
Looks like my client Raheem Mostert will be playing elsewhere next season. Very thankful for his time with the Miami Dolphins, and this gives them a chance to get younger and gives him a chance to pursue a ring elsewhere.

The Pro Bowl running back had a disappointing 2024 campaign

Raheem Mostert had a disappointing 2024 campaign and missed three games with a chest/fractured sternum, which plagued him for most of the season, and one game with a hip injury. Not only did Mostert battled injuries, but his production and playing time significantly declined compared to last season. He rushed for 278 yards on 85 carries and two touchdowns in 278 snaps compared to 1,012 yards on 209 carries and 18 touchdowns in 555 snaps a season ago.
A look at the Miami Dolphins running back room

With the release of Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson a free agent this offseason, the Dolphins currently have two running backs under contract. The two running backs under contract include De’Von Achane, their third-round pick from 2023, who had 907 yards and six touchdowns in his second season, and Jaylen Wright, their fourth-round pick who had 249 rushing yards in his rookie season.
Don’t be surprised if the Dolphins add a running back in free agency or through the draft.
