The Miami Dolphins are preparing for their Week Two matchup against the Buffalo Bills tomorrow night. Going from playing on a Sunday afternoon to a Thursday night does not give them much time to dwell on events from Week One, but the Tyreek Hill arrest prior to their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars has, perhaps, made it difficult to focus on their upcoming game.
Of course, the players and coaches may view it differently. However, fans and the media have been discussing the arrest since it happened, as it has brought up many difficult social conversations regarding how police treat people, particularly African Americans.
Miami Dolphins Wide Receiver Tyreek Hill Was Arrested Following a Traffic Violation
As fans know by now, Hill’s arrest took place outside of Hard Rock Stadium prior to the game against the Jaguars. Hill was pulled over for speeding, and video footage released online by onlookers and from the police show that he did not keep his window rolled down after an officer took his driver’s license.
Footage also shows that the officers then forced Hill to open his car door and, once it was opened, threw him on the ground and placed him in handcuffs.
When body cams don’t stop the power trip, you know the problem is systemic.
If this is how they treat millionaire NFL player Tyreek Hill with the whole world watching, what do you think happens to regular people when no one’s looking?

One of the officers involved has already been placed on administrative leave while the Miami Dade Police Department does its own internal investigation. Hill and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, though, want the officer fired.
Hill’s arrest has also divided NFL fans, with many supporting him and his claims of police brutality while many others place the blame for the incident entirely on the Dolphins’ wide receiver.
Miami Dolphins Wide Receiver Tyreek Hill Reveals What He Regrets About the Incident
Hill addressed the Dolphins media today following practice. Of course, he was asked more questions about his arrest and the conversations that have come as a result.
He responded:
Tyreek Hill says he could have and wishes he did handle things a little bit differently in interaction with police. He adds it doesn’t give them the right to “beat the dog crap out of me.” pic.twitter.com/NLV2Rsqw1P

“I could have been better. I could have let down my window, you know, in that instant. The thing about me is I don’t want to be like cameras out, phone’s on you in that moment. But at the end of the day, I’m human. I gotta follow the rules. I gotta do what everyone else would do.
“Now does that give them to right to beat the dog out of me? Absolutely not. But at the end of the day, I wish I could back and do things a bit differently.”
As one can see, Hill regrets not rolling down his window when directed, but also does not feel that his decision not to do so in that moment excuses the actions that officers decided to take.
