The NFL world got some expected, albeit long-awaited, news today. Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa agreed to the largest contract in franchise history, a four-year $212.4 million extension. His $53.1 million average salary makes him the third-highest paid quarterback in the NFL behind Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals, both of whom make $55 million per season.
Tagovailoa’s deal is also slightly more lucrative than the four-year $212 million contract that Jared Goff signed with the Detroit Lions earlier this offseason.
Now, the rest of the NFL is awaiting what the contract extensions of Jordan Love (Green Bay Packers) and Dak Prescott (Dallas Cowboys) will be.

“What’s up guys? Tua here, got some breaking news for you, even though I never break any news. This is a first time for me.
“Just wanted to say that I agreed to a contract extension with the Miami Dolphins. Just want to give a big shout out to Mr. Ross. Wanna thank Chris Greer, Brandon Shore for working endlessly on this deal. Wanna thank Mike McDaniel for believing in me. Wanna thank all my other coaches as well.
“I also want to give a big shoutout to my teammates for believing in me, for also supporting me throughout this process, and then I also want to thank the fans as well.
“Fins up!”
As one can see, Tagovailoa is very grateful to many people for helping this contract happen.
