On Thursday, the Miami Dolphins hosted the Buffalo Bills in a primetime divisional matchup in primetime. Miami entered as a short favorite but trailed 31-10 late in the third quarter before putting together arguably their best drive of the game. However, on fourth and four from the Buffalo 13-yard line, the drive came to a screeching halt when quarterback Tua Tagovailoa took a brutal hit to the head on a six-yard scamper.
After finding nobody open on a three-step drop from the shotgun formation, Tagovailoa stepped up and ran up the middle before plunging into Bills safety Damar Hamlin. Tagovailoa immediately hit the ground, with his body presenting signs of decerebrate posturing, also known as the contortion of one’s hands. Trainers immediately went to Tagovailoa, with the passer ruled out for the remainder of the contest. With the lefty passer owning a long history of concussion paired with decerebrate posturing (fencing position), fans were rightfully emotional following the injury.
Miami Dolphins Fans Broken Hearted Following Scary Tua Tagovailoa Injury

According to the Miami Dolphins:
Injury Update | Tua Tagovailoa has been ruled out with a concussion.
Thursday’s concussion marks the fifth of the 26-year-old’s football career. In 2022, Tagovailoa suffered a similarly scary concussion to Thursday. He also suffered a concussion in college, and Thursday’s head injury has many fans clamoring for the signal-caller to retire from football potentially. The Alabama product finished the game 17-of-25 for 145 yards and one touchdown. He also threw three interceptions.
Tagovailoa struggled in Thursday’s tilt, but fans quickly rallied behind the former Maxwell Award winner. His most recent concussion will undoubtedly cloud the Gunslinger’s NFL future just a year after he led the league in passing yards. Nevertheless, Miami Dolphins fans and NFL devotees shared their thoughtfulness for Tagovailoa.

That’s it….
NFL go ahead and do the right thing

Really hope Tua is ok, but he’s gotta seriously think about shutting it dwn. I H8 saying this. His concussions are getting worse and worse and he’s a young man with his entire life ahead of him. #BillsFins #ThursdayNightFootball.

I couldn’t believe they showed it again. I immediately thought neck injury. I literally freaked out till he got up. It reminded me of Hamlin which ironically was the one that tackled him. Tua couldn’t catch a break tonight 😔 my 🩵 is W/him that he’s ok.

Sucks to see Tua go out with the apparent concussion. Hope he's OK, head injuries are always concerning, regardless of severity.

I love Tua, but I think it's time for him to really consider hanging it up. Health over everything man and plus he has a family to live for. #GoFins 🙏🙏🙏
