The Miami Dolphins are looking to get back to the playoffs in 2024. This off-season has seen the Dolphins put their money where their mouth is when it comes to their star players. Both Tyreek Hill and Tua Tagovailoa received new or restructured contracts.
However, now there will be a new weapon joining their offense.
The Miami Dolphins Sign One Former Pittsburgh Steelers Running Back
According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network:
The Dolphins are signing former Steelers RB Anthony McFarland Jr., per source.
In total, McFarland appeared in 17 games for the Steelers over four seasons after being drafted in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft (No. 124 overall).A total of 42 runs for 146 yards and 11 catches for 87 yards were recorded by him.
After being injured last season, McFarland played in just three games before becoming a free agent.
In the newly formed UFL, which was formed by merging the XFL and USFL, the former Steelers draft pick enjoyed quite a season.
During this season, he’s appeared in four of eight games for the San Antonio Brahmas and carried the ball 32 times for 110 yards and a touchdown. Additionally, he has nine catches for 172 yards and three touchdowns.
The versatility he showed in the UFL certainly contributed to rejoining the NFL. It will be interesting to see if he can carve out a role in the high powered Miami offense.
