Center, Remington Award watch-listed, Jacob Likes again anchors this Tiger offensive line. He was graded a three-star prospect according to 24/7 sports. This highly recruited offensive lineman graduated from high school at Christian Brothers High School,
Joseph Gambill, red-shirt sophomore tackle, is projected to once again go into the first-team line. This is after injury last year. Also projected to be a starter at tackle is Matt Dale, senior.
First team guards are projected to be Ira Henry, III, a sophomore transfer from Florida State, and Austin Myles, a senior transfer from TCU. Myers is a preseason third-team Phil Steele All-AAC player.
Tigers are slotted as the 5th best team in the AAC, as projected by media at AAC Media Days. Their offensive line is projected as the fifth best in the AAC, per website College Football News .
The primary obstacle to the Memphis Tigers offensive line may not be talent, but overall cohesion.
The projected started lineup has never played together as a unit. Though highly recruited as recruits the possibly exceptional unit has been dogged by injuries throughout their careers. And the high number of transfers may spell difficulties with so many new faces trying to fit into Coach Silverfield’s offensive system.
