The Kansas City Chiefs (11-1) will be down a key offensive player for their matchup Sunday night against the Los Angeles Chargers (8-4). The Chiefs signed a wide receiver to add depth to the 53-man roster.
The Chiefs have been without two of their star wide receivers for most of the season. Marquise Brown hasn’t played since he injured his shoulder in the first week of the preseason in August. Rashee Rice suffered a season-ending injury in Kansas City’s 17-10 Week 4 over the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium.
The Chiefs added firepower for quarterback Patrick Mahomes when they traded for star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins replenished much-needed depth at wide receiver.
Unfortunately, the Chiefs will be without another wide receiver for at least four weeks.
On Friday, the Chiefs listed Mecole Hardman as questionable to play Sunday night due to a knee injury. He did not participate in Friday’s practice.
The Kansas City Chiefs are placing Mecole Hardman on IR
Per a post by the Chiefs on X Saturday, Kansas City signed wide receiver Nikko Remigio to the active roster and placed Hardman on injured reserve.
“We have signed Practice Squad WR Nikko Remigio to an active roster contract,” the Chiefs posted. “We have activated Practice Squad LB Swayze Bozeman and TE Baylor Cupp via Standard Elevation. We have placed WR Mecole Hardman on Reserve/Injured.”

Nikko Remigio is in his second season with the Chiefs
Hardman has played in 12 games for Kansas City in 2024, recording 12 receptions for 90 yards. Remigio has yet to record a reception this season or any NFL stats in the Fresno State standout’s two-year career.
The Chiefs signed Remigio as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2023.
