The Pittsburgh Steelers added to their offseason roster on Tuesday. The Steelers are still waiting on former Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers to sign as the team has a glaring hole at QB1 with a week remaining before the 2025 draft.
The team is allowed to carry 90 players on the offseason roster. The extra bodies will help as the team begins OTAs this spring.
On Tuesday, the Steelers added a former second-round pick to the roster.

Per the league’s transaction wire, Pittsburgh re-signed offensive guard Max Scharping to the roster.
The #Steelers re-signed OG Max Scharping on Tuesday. The second-round pick by the #Texans in 2019 joined Pittsburgh in October when they plucked him off the Commanders practice squad.

Max Scharping is a former second-round pick
The Houston Texans selected Scharping with the No. 55 pick in the 2019 draft. The Texans waived him following training camp in 2022. He spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, replacing an injured Alex Cappa at right guard during the 2022 postseason.
He spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders in 2024. The Steelers poached Scharping off the Commanders practice squad in October.
The standout for the Northern Illinois Huskies has appeared in 81 games and started 33 in his six-year NFL career. He appeared in two games for Pittsburgh in 2024. He played one special teams snap.
