Matthew McConaughey, popular actor, is known for his prolific love for the Texas Longhorns in the NCAA. Recently, McConaughey could not help reacting to Texas alumnus, Gunnar Helm, being drafted by the Tennessee Titans.
22-year-old Helm was selected by the Tennessee Titans as the 120th pick in the fourth round of the recent NFL draft. The Titans are hoping to make Helms, a tight end, a stalwart support for their brand new quarterback Cam Ward in the upcoming NFL season. Helm played college football for the Texas Longhorns from 2021 to 2024. In his senior year, the tight end managed a total of 60 receptions for 786 yards, scoring seven touchdowns for the team.

The Tennessee Titans will be eager to improve their record in the 2025 NFL season after finishing at the bottom of the pile in the AFC South with only three wins and 14 defeats. The Titans played their last game of the season against the Houston Texans, losing abysmally 23-14.
Matthew McConaughey, although not an athlete himself, has been strongly supporting the Texas Longhorns after his time with the university. He not only actively promotes all the sports programs that the university provides but even has close relationships with the alumni themselves. He also ardently supports the teams through social media, making his reaction to Gunnar Helm’s Tennessee selection an expected one.

Matthew McConaughey was surely a proud mama hen as several of his beloved Texas Longhorns’ alumni found themselves picked by various NFL teams in the 2025 NFL draft. McConaughey not only tweeted his praise and admiration for Gunnar Helm who went to the Tennessee Titans, but did the same for all the other Longhorns as well.
