Matt Eberflus has to go; hopefully, it will be sooner rather than later for Caleb Williams. The Chicago Bears have been off to a mediocre first half of the 2024 season landing a 4-5 record, but the much larger issues are in regards to Williams and his lack of growth.
The season has so far shown that Jayden Daniels is miles ahead of Williams and other rookie quarterbacks have all been performing better than Williams so far. Coach Eberflus has not been able to get Caleb going at all, in any game this season, and that is with the best weapons that any of the rookie quarterbacks have by far! While Caleb keeps having rookie issues, many other prospects are finally getting going.
If Eberflus is the coach for Caleb moving forward he is going to ruin the start of Williams’s career.
Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears Need A New Head Coach

Many Bears fans have been taking to social media to share their concern about the head coach after the team lost to another rookie quarterback this past Sunday. Drake Maye did not even have a great game, and he completely outperformed Caleb in their head-to-head matchup. The New England Patriots took the game 19-3 in the Bears stadium.
Williams, who has struggled throughout the season, threw for just 120 yards on 16 of 30 passing. Maye, meanwhile, threw for 184 yards and a touchdown. The Bears dropped to 4-5 on the season with the loss and NFL fans are getting frustrated.
ESPN personality Mike Greenberg took to social media to blast the Chicago coaching staff.
“Caleb Williams was drafted ahead of Daniels, Maye and Nix because of his talent. He is playing worse than any of them because of his coaching. The #Bears are doing it again to another young quarterback. So predictable, so frustrating,” he wrote.
Greenberg is correct that this team is on pace to ruin another rookie quarterback, but this time, it is the best young quarterback in a long time. While guys like Jayden, Drake, and Bo Nix have all been getting better each week, Caleb has not. He has not had a great showing in any game yet, and the coaches are not even trying to give him the easy stuff.
The Patriots have been playing like one of the worst teams, and their defense absolutely demolished Clabe all game. If there is not a coaching change for next season, there are going to be bg issues for Caleb’s start to his career. and those issues can have lasting effects on a player.

Greenberg is not alone in his take, as many Bears fans and other analysts are seeing what is going on in Chicago and we all know where this is going:
“Ryan Poles fire all the coaches, if Ryan doesn’t have the balls to fire all the coaches, Kevin Warren fire Ryan Poles and all the coaches, if Kevin Warren doesn’t have the balls to fire everyone, George McCaskey fire everyone, if George McCaskey doesn’t fire everyone, then you are all cowards,” one fan wrote in a tweet that has been seen more than 210,000 times.
The Bears as a team have not been playing terribly as they sit at 4-5 at the halfway mark of the season, but it is the fact that Claeb has not developed at all so far and that nothing comes easy for the offense that many are concerned.
The Bears find themselves in the best division in football, and Eberflus is not going to cut it moving forward. The days when having a defensive coach develop a rookie quarterback are over, it simply does not work. Caleb needs an elite offensive mind to get him going. Nux has Sean Payton, Jayden has Kliff Kingsbury, and Caleb needs an offensive mind in his ear to develop him properly.
Hopefully the team can make a change fast, because this coaching staff is not going to get the job done.
