Chicago Bears fans are upset with the front office for their reported decision on head coach Matt Eberflus‘ future with the team. Ebeflus is 14-28 in three seasons with the Bears. Eberflus inherited a tough gig when he agreed to become the head coach of a rebuilding team.
However, patience is growing thin after two offseasons where the Bears had an opportunity to rebuild via having the No. 1 pick to trade or use. The Bears are 4-4 this season, and several team captains have complained about coaching decisions after losses.
The Chicago Bears plan to keep Matt Eberflus

Per the NFL Network‘s Adam Rank, the Bears have decided to retain Eberflus for the 2025 season.
“I will say, and then the second part of that is that there’s a possibility that Matt Eberflus actually has a five-year contract (which would run through the 2026 season_ and that he might be more locked in,” Rank said Wednesday via the Sick Podcast with Adam Rank. “Because I talked and I might have alluded to this a moment ago. I talked to some people within NFL circles, people who are close to Ryan Poles.
“And they indicated to me that regardless of what happens at all, Matt Eberflus is coming back regardless. That they’re not going to be in a situation where they just, they just, they put him, they put him in the same spot that they put Justin Fields and Mitch Trubisky and Rex Grossman and everybody else. They’re not going to do that.”

Bears fans react to Rank’s report

Many Bears fans took to social media to complain about general manager Ryan Poles’ reportedly decision to keep Eberflus around in 2025.
“If that’s true…then Poles needs to go,” wrote a fan.
“Well they’ll both be fired,” posted another. “This is a results driven league and Poles/Eberflus to this point have NOT gotten the results!!!”
“Joke franchise. Doesn’t want to win so I won’t be caring anymore,” claimed a fan.
“That would be the biggest mistake this organization could make,” one person suggested. “They might as well just plan on drafting a new qb come 2026. I will literally jump out a window if he comes back.”
“If Poles is actually thinking this way he needs to be fired,” wrote another.
“I love what Poles has done with the roster, but if things keep going how they’re going and he plans on bringing Eberflus back, Poles has to go too then,” believes one fan.
