    Martin Emerson Flashed Some Potential

The Browns got a 24-13 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday, and the game was interesting for the Browns. There were some bad moments, including Deshaun Watson’s poor performance, but there was a pretty big highlight for the Browns in that game. That one highlight would be the rookie Martin Emerson getting a pick-six.

The play went down as an interception, but he kind of just ripped it away.

HE JUST TOOK IT AWAY. @MartyMargg1 houses it! @Browns

After the game, Emerson was asked if he has ever gotten a stolen ball interception before, and he had this to say:

“I actually have, Mississippi State, 1-on-1s, practice, but in a real life game, no I didn’t. That was a great moment, it felt good just taking it away from him then taking it to the house.”

He said that he saw the ball bounce up, so he knew he had to take that opportunity.

“I was playing top down, he came back on a hitch, I was really just trying to break the ball up but when I went in to rip it, I hit it on my arm somehow, bounced up, it was right there, had to take it.”

Martin Emerson was selected with the 68th pick in the NFL Draft, and you would think he would be nervous in his first pre-season game. But instead, he’s ready for more challenges.

“I used to be more nervous. Like in college I used to be a little more nervous, but right now I’m like, I’m here for a reason, worked so hard for this moment and I was ready to go out and show my teammates and build trust in my coaches and show them what I can do.”

Emerson did play well, but it may be difficult for him to get playing time. Denzel Ward and Greg Newsome will definitely be starters, so it could be difficult for him to get playing time. He could be the third string, but they may have Greedy Williams as a third string.

But either way, he should get playing time. It may not be a lot, but he should play consistently.
