Mark Schlereth, former Denver Broncos guard, is advising the Cleveland Browns to get rid of their kicker, Dustin Hopkins. In their recent game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland’s Hopkins missed a pair of field goals, leading the team to lose 27-14. Currently, the Browns are fourth in the AFC North after winning three games and losing ten so far.
In the game against the Steelers, Cleveland’s QB Jameis Winston went for 212 yards, completing 24 passes out of 41 attempts. Winston also managed to score a pair of touchdowns in that game, while managing a couple of interceptions. Nick Chubb led the team in rushing with 11 carries while Jerry Jeudy managed five receptions in defense. Mark Schlereth took to X to express his frustration with Hopkins.
“Cleveland needs to cut their kicker right now. Go for every fourth down and go for two on any score,” Schlereth tweeted on X.

While Schlereth made his opinion clear about Hopkins and the Browns, Cleveland is yet to make any such decision regarding their kicker. The 34-year-old was drafted into the NFL by the Buffalo Bills in 2013 after Hopkins impressed during his college football stint with Florida State.
Mark Schlereth Accuses Giants Of Making Mistake With Daniel Jones
Meanwhile, Mark Schlereth has also openly accused the New York Giants of making a mistake by parting ways with Daniel Jones. Jones requested a release from his contract by meeting directly with John Mara who co-owns the team. However, in accepting his release, the Giants will be losing a substantial sum of money, after the player signed a $160 million contract.
On his podcast “The Stinkin’ Truth” where he discussed many controversial topics with a brutal perspective, Mark Schlereth spoke about this topic. The 58-year-old former NFL star remarked that the Giants already made a huge mistake in signing Jones up as their quarterback, after the player did not prove himself in his stats. The Giants seem to be making another bigger mistake in parting ways with Jones at this point in the season.
Jones played for the New York Giants for six seasons, but had to make the tough call after the quarterback did not churn out the numbers they were expecting. The team felt that playing Jones in the field was too risky at this point, and was more than happy to let the young player go. The QB will have plenty of time to rest and recover and search for greener pastures.
