LSU players are earning the respect in the preseason by being selected to several award watch lists. It was announced on Wednesday that Jay Bramblett was selected to the Ray Guy Award watch list heading into the 2022 season.

Bramblett transferred in from Notre Dame to LSU during the offseason to join Brian Kelly. In his three-year career with the Irish, he averaged 41.6 yards on 164 punts during his career at Notre Dame.

The Tuscaloosa, Alabama native’s best season with the Irish came in 2021. In his junior year, he appeared in 13 games. Bramblett averaged 43.1 yards on 58 punts. He also set a career-high for 50+ yard punts with 11 and his longest punt was 72 yards in the game vs. Wisconsin.

The Ray Guy Award honors the nation’s best collegiate punter. The last Tiger punter to be nominated was Avery Atkins heading into the 2021 season. No LSU player is yet to take home the Ray Guy Award honors. Bramblett joins 47 other punters across the nation on the preseason award watch list.
