In the early hours of Sunday morning, LSU was forced to share some heartbreaking news. There was a tragic discovery made just weeks before the 2025 NFL Draft when wide receiver Kyren Lacy was found deceased in Houston, Texas. It was only a matter of a few days before Lacy had to appear in court on an alleged negligent homicide charge.
Now his official cause of death has been released to the public.

According to journalist Darrelle Lincoln:
The former LSU receiver died at age 24 as he was getting set to face criminal charges stemming from a fatal car accident in Louisiana last December that had clouded his NFL prospects.
Rumors had initially suggested that Lacy took his own life. That is, unfortunately, what happened.
Authorities announced on Sunday that the NFL Draft prospect died by suicide. Kyren Lacy died from an apparent “self-inflicted gunshot wound” following a police pursuit in Texas, local authorities said Sunday.
Lacy was arguing with a family member on Saturday and reportedly pulled out a gun and shot it at the ground before leaving the area.
