July continues to be active on the recruiting trail for LSU as the Tigers pick up their first 2023 OL commit. The Tigers also secured their 12th commitment in 14 days. Paul Mubenga, picked the Tigers out of a top five that also included Michigan, Texas A&M, South Carolina and North Carolina. Mubenga spoke on why LSU was the best choice for him:
“LSU was the best choice for me and my situation, and after talking to (offensive line) coach Brad Davis and (coach) Brian Kelly and understanding their vision I felt more comfortable. And all the people and the entire staff made an impact on me as well.”
The 6-foot-3, 275-pound Mubenga is currently ranked as the No. 77 offesive lineman in the country, according to 247Sports. The Buford, Georgia native plays left tackle for Buford High School. Mubenga is the 16th player in the 2023 recruiting class for the Tigers and also the fourth recruit from Georgia. Mubenga took his official visit to LSU in June and the Tigers were able to gain some momentum after. Offensive line coach, Brad Davis, spoke on the role Mubenga will have in the Tigers’ offense:
“He sees me as a fit for them. He can use me at any position possible. Just depends where the team needs me the most. As of now, he’s looking to play two freshmen my freshman year in college and he thinks I can be a part of that. (His style) is very similar to what I’ve been doing so far. I can get pushed from him and get better.
The addition of Mubenga now puts LSU at 16 overall commitments and No. 7 in the 247Sports 2023 Recruit Football Team Rankings.
