The Los Angeles Rams are set to enter the 2025 NFL season with veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford under center. During the offseason, it appeared that Stafford could choose to head elsewhere to finish up his career, but he opted to work out a new deal to stay with the Rams.
While Stafford is back as the team’s starting quarterback, the future after him is very murky. Right now, Los Angeles doesn’t have a quarterback option for the future.
Les Snead and company are likely already working to figure out a plan for the coming years. Stafford may only have one or two years left in him. Finding a long-term option would be a wise plan.
With that in mind, one potential option has been suggested.
Los Angeles Rams Named Possible Suitor in Huge Trade for Shedeur Sanders
Shedeur Sanders has been one of the biggest talking points in the NFL since he was drafted in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. After being expected to be a first or second round pick, his slide to the fifth round was shocking.
It’s unlikely that the Cleveland Browns would trade Sanders, but if he does become available, the Rams could make sense as a suitor.

Mark Sipos of Dawg Pound Daily has suggested Los Angeles as a potential Sanders destination if the Browns do decide to trade the former Colorado star.
“Matthew Stafford is still capable, but the Rams don’t have a clear succession plan,” Sipos wrote. “Sanders could sit behind him, learn the nuances of Sean McVay’s system, and grow into a potential starter down the line. His timing-based game and quick release would fit the scheme, and there’d be no pressure to play early.”
Even though Sanders slipped in the draft, there is still no denying his arm talent. He has the potential to become a legitimate high-end franchise quarterback down the road.
During his college career split between Jackson State and Colorado, Sanders completed 70.1 percent of his pass attempts for 14,347 yards, 134 touchdowns, and just 27 interceptions. Those numbers show a glimpse at the high level of potential that Sanders brings to the field.
A trade for Sanders may be unlikely, but it would make sense. If Cleveland places him on the trade block, it would not be shocking to see the Rams show interest.
